Author, Trainer, Speaker and Advocate.
Kate is a survivor and advocate for victims of child abuse, spousal abuse, religious abuse, and a survivor of the Good Shepherd Laundries. Her passion is to help others move forward from a childhood of abuse.
Kate as a Speaker
Kate has spoken to many groups and organisations in Canberra, Sydney, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Minnesota USA.
Kate as an Advocate
Kate is a powerful advocator for survivors; and indeed, helping survivors take back their lives through the power of forgiveness and rebuilding broken fences in their lives.
VISION
To help those who have been hurt by THE GOOD SHEPHERD NUNS and to uncover the lies and deceit used by those who took advantage of vulnerable children.
MANDATE
To speak to groups.
Coordinate strong networks for survivors.
Expose the lies and cover-ups.
Raise public awareness.
VALUES
Every survivor is valued.
Every survivor deserves respect.
Every survivor has a right to be heard.
Every survivor needs an apology.
Every survivor has a right to the truth.
Every survivor has a right to feel safe.
MISSION
All children have a right to a safe childhood and because that right has been violated by State and Church, we are mandated to provide a safe place to tell their stories and to find their voice through information , others stories and inspirational pathways through steps others have taken to find their healing and reclaim their lives. Likewise, to bring awareness of the abuses done to vulnerable young girls behind closed doors.
Kate Reid has 25 years experience working in the area of childhood abuse and committed to helping create a safer environment for our most vulnerable members of society.
She has researched and studied Post Traumatic Stress and the life-long effects that child exploitation has on the soul and spirit of A human being.
Kate designed a set of colouring books called "Bert the Butterfly" to help parents teach their children about the "grooming" of sexual predators, and how to trust their instincts; they were launched at the Legislative Assembly by Jacqui Burke in 2005.
She has a Diploma of Counselling from the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors, awards for public speaking and recognition from Toastmasters International.
Kate arrived back in Australia in January 2009 after spending two years as Executive Director of CRTEC (Centre to Restore Trafficked and Exploited Children) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA where she wrote and designed a training manual for Police and Immigration and those involved in identifying trafficked children within the USA borders.
ENDORSEMENTS
“ Kate shines a powerful spotlight of truth on the darkness and fear that surrounds child abuse. Her transparency, openness and honesty are essential weapons to combat a problem that thrives in the dark.
A survivor of child abuse herself, Kate surprises her audiences with her level of compassion and understanding...”

“Thank you for being a big part of my healing...I think that before I attended your seminar I was still living as a victim (and hating it!). I was no longer living a life where I was dulling the pain with drugs or alcohol, but I felt that my pain and aching over that part of my life was stopping me being any use to myself, let alone anyone else (especially God).
There was so much about the seminar that helped me....but the story about the broken vessel showed me that that' ugly' part of my life could be used for good. It was so healing to realise that I was not alone, that there were others (many more than anyone likes to admit) who have not only experienced the pain of abuse but have overcome it. I remember walking away and physically wiping the Victim label off my forehead..... I am now a Survivor!!!
To Others - I encourage you, if you think you might need to do this course - YOU DO!”
Love and blessings

“To whom it may concern,
I had the pleasure of meeting Kate after she invited me to participate in the Combined Closed Doors Seminar in Canberra in April 2005.
Kate is not only a most accomplished speaker but a tireless campaigner for victims of childhood abuse and in the area of child protection. Her passion for the cause is contagious and yet crucial for our community – the incidence of child abuse and neglect continues to climb as do the numbers of victims left struggling with its impact, often for a lifetime.
I commend Kate’s work to all.”
Yours sincerely

“The special insight of Kate has been the means of taking many victims of sexual abuse by the hand, giving them a hope of a brighter and better future.
I have attended Kate’s Seminars and witnessed first hand a very competent and caring facilitator who speaks from first hand experience. These Seminars are professionally conducted, useful to both people endeavouring to understand the devastating effects of sexual abuse, and those seeking a safe arena of healing.
It is with such recommendation that I support Kate and her work.“

“I met Kate three and a half years ago while she was living in the US. I found her to be remarkable and very insightful. She is very courageous and encourages others to not be the “eternal” victim. She does this through education and awareness. By educating victims on predatory behavior, she is hoping to break future abuse cycles. As a victim of child sexual abuse, I share in her hope that one day, there will be no child left to prey on. Without her, many people would not fully understand the lifelong damage and struggles faced by those who “survive”.
God Bless you Kate for your unrelenting approach to this very serious problem in our society.”
